Preparation of the Branch Campus
During the China-Central Asia Summit, General Secretary Xi Jinping and President Tokaev witnessed the signing of a framework agreement on cooperation with the Kazakhstan Branch of Northwestern Polytechnical University.
Academic System
The duration of the Branch Campus programme is two years. In the first year, the courses are jointly taught by the two universities, and NPU sends teachers to Kazakhstan to give lectures; in the second year, the students will come to China and enter the university to carry out research projects.
II. Introduction of the Major:
Computer Science and Technology:
Initiated in 1958, the major of computer science and technology,as one of the majors set up earlier among the higher educational institutions across the nation, has make tremendous achievements. It has successfully developed the first airborne computer of China, the first microprogrammed general-purpose computer, the first large application-specific integrated circuit for aviation use, the first engineering database management system, etc.
The major is committed to cultivating students with solid basic theory and professionalknowledge of computer software and hardware, good computing thinking and strongengineering skills who can be engaged in the research and development of computersoftware and hardware and computer application technology, as well as the design anddevelopment of computer system in engineering field. The major enables students to become top innovative talents in scientific research, engineering design and application development with the ability to design complex computing systems, to work across multiple disciplines, and to learn in rapidly changing fields while mastering a solid and broad basic knowledge of this discipline.
