I. Introduction of the Branch Campus:

Preparation of the Branch Campus

During the China-Central Asia Summit, General Secretary Xi Jinping and President Tokaev witnessed the signing of a framework agreement on cooperation with the Kazakhstan Branch of Northwestern Polytechnical University.

Academic System

The duration of the Branch Campus programme is two years. In the first year, the courses are jointly taught by the two universities, and NPU sends teachers to Kazakhstan to give lectures; in the second year, the students will come to China and enter the university to carry out research projects.

II. Introduction of the Major:

The programme of materials science double degrees includes Metallurgy and Nanotechnology. Various directions are included: New Metal Materials and Design, Non-ferrous Materials, High Temperature Alloy with Refractory Metal, Rare Metal Materials, Solidification Technology, Advanced Photovoltaics Materials and Devices, Materials and Devices for Electrochemical Energy Storage, Materials and Devices for Green Hydrogen, Green Catalysis Materials, Advanced Displaying Materials and Devices, and Nano Diagnosis and Chemical Sensing. As the leading technology for hi-tech industries and advanced manufactures, materials science technology is the foundation for the development of any other industries, supporting and guiding the development of economy and the upgrading and reform of industries.
